  • Job Description

    1. Develop, document; and maintain data protection standards
    2. Provide support for the application of high-grade commercial and Type 1 encryption (including related services such as digital signatures) to increase the security of agency data
    3. Support activities designed to identify where encryption should be applied to satisfy existing policies and program requirements
    4. Provide assessments of current or planned implementations of cryptographic services to determine proper configuration to provide the intended levels of protection
    5. Provide market research and evaluation to develop recommendations for specific commercial products
    6. Support the integration, implementation, testing, deployment, and support for existing encryption products, while advising customers on application of these products in their unique environments
    7. Keep up with new technological developments and to be prepared to support any new government cryptographic needs
    8. Work with other customer organizations to understand workflow and data collection/reporting requirements in order to provide the government with risk governance capabilities
    9. Have familiarity with various data formats (e.g.; xml; rtf; etc.) data field, and application interfaces to facilitate effective collaboration with project teams to obtain the required data
    10. Work to enhance and automate data ingesting and reporting capabilities across the enterprise to support risk governance reporting
    11. Provide Symantec Endpoint Encryption and Vormetric continuity of operations (COOP) support


    • Related systems or network engineering experience
    • Extensive experience with Linux/Unix
    • Experience with one or more encryption/cryptographic technologies that support the development, documentation, and maintenance of data protection standards within the Sponsor’s organization (experience with data at rest tools preferred)
    • Knowledge and ability to research, assess, and make recommendations regarding commercial encryption technologies, as well as how to integrate, implement, test, deploy and support within the Sponsor’s environment
    • Familiarity with various data formats (e.g., xml, rtf, etc.), data fields, and applications interfaces to effectively collaborate with other project teams, and keep up with new technological developments to support ongoing cryptographic needs
    • Ability to support rotating pager duty


    • Demonstrated experience with SafeNet, HyTrust, LUKS, Amazon KMS highly desired
    • Security/Encryption related education and certification(s)
    • Training and/or certifications in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • Strong written communication skills or technical writing experience




    8+ years of related technical experience.
