    Principal Systems Engineer

    TS/SCI Clearance

    Alexandria, VA


    Principal Systems Engineer specializing in and extensive knowledge of Server, Storage, and Virtualization technologies, specifically; Windows 2008, 2012, 2016, Linux Red Hat, CentOS, openSUSE; NetApp, EMC; VMware, Hyper-V, KVM

    Job Description

    • Able to work in a multiple domain enterprise environment
    • Develops task automation through Perl, UNIX shell, Linux shell, Java, PHP, Python, PowerShell, VBScript, and C programming
    • Sets up administrator and service accounts
    • Maintains system documentation
    • Configures Site & Services
    • Creates DNS records
    • Maintain server certificate
    • Familiar with Microsoft Lync/Skype
    • Creates and maintains DHCP server and services
    • Proficient with Exchange 2010, 2013, 2016
    • Working knowledge with MS SQL 2014, 2016
    • Familiar with Cross Domain technologies
    • Maintains iSCSI and Fiber Channel SAN connectivity
    • Experience with NFS, DFS, and CIFS
    • Evaluates with ACAS & STIG scans and implements hardening, scanning, mitigating, and accrediting
    • Solid experience with Dell blade and rack mounted servers
    • Proven knowledge on the following technologies:
      • VMware ESXi
      • Exchange
      • SCCM
      • SCOM
      • SCSM
      • WSUS
    • Solid understanding of ITIL, including Service Management, Capacity Management and Change Management
    • Provides advice and training to end-users
    • Participates in special projects as required


    • Windows server 2008/2012 troubleshooting and management
    • Extensive experience working within a Windows physical and virtual environment
    • Proven knowledge of RBAC and delegation of role permissions
    • Experience upgrading, installing, patching and hardening systems
    • Strong understanding of servers and experience with VMware is strongly preferred
    • Ability to work independently
    • Self-Starter
    • Manage and configure Windows server environments.
    • Automate tasks to improve efficiency.
    • Implement Active Directory and Local Group policies to enforce security requirements and standards
    • DoD 8570 IAT II compliant


    Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.


    1. 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.

    2. Advanced knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques.

    3. Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.

    4. Professional certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.

    5. Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

    6. Must meet DoD 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V3 Foundation within six months of hire.

    7. This position may be required to complete short-term deployments to austere locations worldwide

    8. The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
