Job Description

Responsible for the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the operation of the organization.

The position supports the procurement of various parts, assemblies, and services to facilitate installation, repair, refurbishment, and warehousing of various Surface Ship Torpedo Defense Systems, shipboard installation infrastructure, and raw material. Types of material/services include, but are not limited to:

Cable, back shells, circuit boards, IT equipment, development tools, wire, multimedia equipment, adapters, routers, switches, transformers, software, power systems, hardware (bolts, brackets, mounts, nuts, racks, power distribution panels, shock mounts), marine chemist services, crane services, scaffolding rental, welding equipment rental, rigging services, etc.….


  1. Maintains files, logs, invoice records, purchase orders, records of materials, prices, inventories, deliveries and other related documents.
  2. Prepares standard requests for quotations.
  3. Assist higher-level purchasing staff in contacting vendors to obtain prices and schedule delivery dates.
  4. Prepares and reviews purchase orders for accuracy and completeness.
  5. Enters purchase orders into the automated system.
  6. Serves as a liaison between employees or customer personnel and vendors in order to answer questions and resolve problems.
  7. Assists in expediting orders.
  8. Reviews invoices from suppliers for conformance to purchase orders.
  9. Assists higher-level purchasing staff as assigned.
  10. Participates in special projects as required.


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.
  2. Experience purchasing material for DoD contracts.


0-2 years of related purchasing experience.

Basic knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices involved in the purchasing function.
Will develop a working knowledge of FAR rules and regulations.

Effective communication skills.

Effective administrative and organizational skills.

Must be a team player.
