The Sustainment Training Specialist is responsible for assisting in the design of USARC directed collective training exercises such as Warriors and CSTXs. Assists in the development of an exercise design that incorporates exercise objectives and directed training objectives in a realistic operational environment. Possesses basic knowledge and experience in Army sustainment operations and training. Knowledge includes an understanding of military doctrine, current tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and modular force structure in order to incorporate training units into appropriate exercise environments. Assists in the development of required Exercise Directives.
Serves as a sustainment script writer who develops theater specific scripting of Master Scenario Events List (MSEL), or simulation control injects that are integrated with and support lanes training, field training exercises, and constructive staff training in a Live-Virtual-Constructive environment. Conducts in-depth research on theater specific operations, lessons learned and newly developed tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) used in the development of MSEL, or simulation control injects that accurately replicates the operational environment that the training is designed to support. Determines the appropriate inject method and point of entry into the exercise. Prepares the event implementer in a realistic manner using actual unit standing operating procedures (SOP) or Army report formats. Ensures all events are synchronized and threaded throughout the scenario. Develops hybrid MSEL, simulation control injects that are synchronized with the appropriate simulation systems to ensure integration with the scenario, and is supportive of both the exercise and training objectives. Participates, as directed, in Concept Development Conferences, Initial Planning Conferences, Mid Planning Conferences, Final Planning Conferences, and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) Conferences to produce exercise control plans and storylines for assigned exercises. Prepares briefings and other required materials. Serves as the Sustainment warfighting function expert and maintains currency within the Sustainment warfighter functional area. During exercise execution will serve as a member of the EXCON Cell, Scenario Cell, or Observer/Trainer (Analyst Support) Cell, as required. Works in a highly intense information technology (IT) environment, and required to maximize the use of Army Battle Command Systems (ABCS), other Battle Command Systems, training aids, devices, simulations and simulators (TADSS), mission specific digital systems/tools, and other available IT assets in the conduct of mission support.
Bachelors Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience.
GDIT Requires: 5-8 years of directly related experience in the development and delivery of technical training programs.
Contract Requires: 6 years directly related military training experience. Candidate must have extensive experience in training Army units in both small unit live environments (Lanes/STX), and/or in command and staff constructive environments (CPX) at Battalion and Brigade level. Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years relevant experience in a leadership position in military units, with duties commensurate to those defined in the job description.
Unique/Additional Requirements: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in supporting military operations; Advanced knowledge of relevant hardware, software, and other equipment as assigned. Some of these qualifications/competencies may include, but are not limited to: Scenarios and Operations Orders library development/sustainment; Exercise development (road to war, scenario, master events, operations orders w/ appropriate annexes, injects/scripting, etc); Exercise design and planning (continuous coordination with the Partner Unit); Exercise control design (control processes, role player requirements, control school, dynamic scripting during execution, etc); Simulation Models revision, development, and maintenance; Rehearsal design and product development; Exercise analysis (data collection, battle analysis, trend analysis, AAR development, etc); Exercise IT network systems and communications architecture design, establishment, maintenance; Exercise scheduling and coordination; and OC/T Academy curricula development and course sustainment. Microsoft Office Skills including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
